Hello, my name is Mary Pat Paulson. I’m an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor currently practicing in Newbury Park and via Telehealth. I have a Masters Degree in Counseling from the Townsend Institute at Concordia University Irvine, and I enjoy coming alongside my clients as they pursue growth and healing.
I am passionate about helping others process and move beyond the effects of past trauma. I have training in the Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM), an evidence-based somatic approach. Currently, I am in ongoing training in play therapy as well. Working through life is my specialty, whether it be anxiety, depression, grief, career transitions, empty nest, trauma or just frustration with self or relationships.
My past includes 35 years of mentoring young girls and women as well as 15 years as a Certified Life Coach. My specialty has been Equine Assisted Learning (EAL and ESMHL through PATH International ) working with youth who have recently experienced trauma, recovery issues, and just struggling with life in general.
For fun I love to hike, horseback ride, hang with family and friends. I also love jet skiing and relaxing at the beach or lakes. I love gardening, herbal medicine and plants in general too. I have four grown children of which I am so proud and consider my largest success to be related to them.
I would be honored to come alongside you in therapy. My goal is for you to be seen, heard and understood. When these essential needs are met, growth, healing and change happens organically. Building this relationship is my first goal; what comes next is based entirely on your goals. Let’s talk about what you’re looking for in therapy and see if we are a good fit.
