Hi! I’m Sarah Nelson and I’m an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist as well as an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor in Newbury Park, California. I received my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University.
I’m happy for the chance to take part in your healing journey and my hope is to be a warm and uplifting presence throughout this process. I have a holistic, client-centered approach to therapy, where I work collaboratively with clients to address the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual scars that may be present. I am trained in Brainspotting and I actively use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Seeking Safety, Family Systems, & Mindfulness in session and throughout treatment.
For the past two years, I’ve treated those dealing with severe trauma, anger management, anxiety, depression, and online romance scams, as well as at-risk youth, LGBTQ+, and those dealing with addiction. I serve a wide range of clients, including teens, couples, adults, and families.
When I’m not in the office, you can most likely find me spending time with my family, relaxing by the water (beach, pool, it doesn’t matter to me), or on the coach re-watching Gilmore Girls for the 100th time.
Therapy is not “one size fits all”. My goal is to help you find not only the treatment but also the therapist that works best for you. I look forward to talking with you and determining if I’m the right fit.
