Rachel Rud

Associate Marriage & Family Therapist

Hello! I’m Rachel.

My venture into becoming a therapist was ignited by my enduring fascination with people and the intricacies of human interactions. Before diving into psychology, I embarked on a rewarding career as an actress following my graduation from Northwestern University's theatre program. During my decade-long journey in Los Angeles, I couldn't help but notice the parallels between creating characters and my deep interest in psychology. Yet, my yearning to assist people on a more personal level continued to pull at me. That's when I made the conscious choice to return to school and pursue my degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University-Northridge's esteemed program.

Today, I proudly stand as a person-centered and trauma-informed therapist, specializing in aiding clients in overcoming traumatic experiences. I'm an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist, viewing my work through the lens of attachment theory. My diverse experience includes working with individuals aged 12 and up, hailing from various cultural backgrounds and socio-economic statuses. I'm comfortable working with adults, adolescents, couples, and families navigating mental health concerns, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance abuse.

My Approach

Within my practice, I employ a blend of modalities like EMDR therapy, mindfulness, humanistic techniques, and attachment and emotion-focused therapy. And I have a strong belief that a dash of humor can often lighten the path. Guiding my clients to their goals involves meeting them where they are and creating a non-judgmental, empowering space for them to identify their focus. I strongly believe in collaboration—I'm here to offer guidance, not dictate your life choices.

What I aspire for my clients to take away from our work together is a deeper sense of self-worth, the ability to establish healthy boundaries, and the resilience to grow from their past experiences while embracing a brighter future.

If you're ready to take the next step towards healing and connection, please reach out and schedule a session. I'm here to support you every step of the way.
